나팔 부는 힙합, 브라스 힙합 밴드 NP UNION
엔피유니온(NP UNION)은 국내에선 처음 시도하는 8인조 브라스 힙합 밴드 (Brass Hiphop Band) 이다. NP는 NAPAL의 약자로, 밴드명은 나팔들의 유니온 이라는 의미를 갖고 있다. 결성 초기 브라스 밴드로만 활동하다 연주곡의 한계를 느끼고 관객과 함께 소통하고 호흡할 수 있는 힙합과 콜라보레이션하면서 브라스 힙합 장르로의 새로운 개척을 시도하였다. 랩퍼 롸키엘을 중심으로 브라스 김찬종(sousaphone), 조은재(saxophone), 허순(trumpet), 최원호(trumpet), 박준석(trombone), 그리고 드럼과 패드에 유효근(drum pad), 문지환(snare drum) 총 8명의 멤버가 함께 한다. 2016년에는 프랑스 뉘소노르 (Nuits Sonores) 페스티벌에 초청받았으며, 이를 시작으로 국내 및 해외 유명 페스티벌 에서 활발한 공연 활동을 펼치고 있다. 지금까지 디지털 싱글 음원과 EP앨범을 발매하였는데, 첫 번째 디지털 싱글인 <Raw Pow Pow>는 그들만의 악동스러운 에너지와 그루비한 음악을 잘 표현한 음악이다. 첫 EP앨범인 <LOW BLOW>는 첫 번째 싱글과 같이 ‘흥겨움과 신남’을 모토로 구성된 앨범으로 엔피유니온 특유의 자제 불가능한 에너지와 폭발적인 사운드를 담고 있으며, 2017년 발표된 디지털 싱글 <GEEKY FREAKY>는 특유의 단순한 리듬에서 오는 강하고 흥겨운 사운드의 곡으로 다소 거칠고 반항적인 주제를 롸키엘만의 재치있고 유머러스한 어투로 재미있게 풀어낸 음악이다. 올해 자라섬 무대에서는 지금까지 나온 엔피유니온의 곡들을 중심으로 특유의 흥겨움과 폭발적인 에너지로 파티스테이지를 가득 채울 예정이다.
Blowing Napal Hip-hop, Brass Hiphop Band NP UNION
NP UNION is the first 8-member Brass Hiphop Band in Korea. NP is anagram of NAPAL(Brass in Korean), the name NP Union means Napals’ union. Early times of team organization, the team was performing as a brass band but reached the limit of instrumental music, later with a collaboration of hip-hop, that can communicate more with the audience, the team creates new brass hip-hop genre. With the leader rapper Rockyl, brass Chanjong Kim(sousaphone), Eunjae Cho(saxophone), Sun Hur (trumpet), Wonho Choi(trumpet), Junseok Park(trombone), Hyokeun Yoo(drum pad), and Jihwan Moon(drums), total 8 members perform together. The team was invited to France Nuits Sonore Festival in 2016, after the team actively plays their music at famous international festivals. The team released a digital single and EP album. The first digital single <Raw Pow Pow> well presents their energy of bad-boy like and groovy music. Their first EP album <LOW BLOW> was organized with moto ‘excitement and cheerfulness’, containing NP UNION’s uncontrollable energy and explosive sound. In 2017, released a digital single <GEEKY FREAKY> showing their music with strong and cheerful sound, talking rough and defiant topic with Rockyl’s witty and humorous language. This year at Jarasum stage, NP UNION’s music will fill the Party Stage with their unique excitement and explosive energy.
