자신감 넘치는 연주에서 느껴지는 신사의 품격, 마커스 고트슐리히 트리오
피아니스트 마커스 고트슐리히는 문화예술의 도시 오스트리아 빈에서 태어났다. 화가인 아버지에게서 창조적인 예술성을 물려받았고 어린 시절을 베토벤이 살던 아파트에서 보냈을 만큼 예술적인 환경에서 자라났다. 17살에 미국 플로리다로 이주해 음악 공부를 이어나갔는데, 이후 마이애미를 중심으로 활동하며 2013년 마이애미 비치 재즈 페스티벌의 큐레이터로 활약하기도 했다. 2014년 스타인웨이앤드선스 아티스트로 선정되었고 2016년에는 재즈 교육 및 워크숍을 진행하는 재즈 아카데미 마이애미(JAM)를 설립해 후학 양성에 나섰다. 그해 한국과 대만을 방문해 워크숍을 진행했다.
지금까지 두 장의 앨범을 발표했으며 2008년 첫 앨범 [When the Day Is Done]에서 피아노 솔로를 선보였다. 2013년 앨범 [Of Places Between]에서는 슈베르트 즉흥곡 ‘Schubert Impromptu Op.90 No. 3’을 수록해 클래식에 대한 조예를 드러냈다. 커버에 보이는 그림이 아버지의 작품이다. 클래식의 서정성과 재즈의 즉흥성을 두루 갖춘 그의 음악에서는 여유와 기품이 느껴진다. 자라섬 무대에서도 현대적인 사운드 안에 넘실거리는 세련되고 탁월한 리듬감을 만나볼 수 있을 것이다.

Austrian-born pianist, composer, and Steinway Artist Markus Gottschlich belongs to the young lions of the Florida jazz scene. Like his own life story, Markus” music reflects a unique blend of “old world” and “new world.” In his captivating live performances, his lyricism and technique contribute to his highly individual sound.
Markus” debut solo piano album in 2008, “When the Day is Done”, received tremendous critical acclaim. For his sophomore album, “Of Places Between”, released in 2013, Markus teamed up with several Grammy Award-winning musicians. The global flavor with which his music is infused reveals an artistic journey that stretches far beyond his Austrian roots. His newest concept album, (set to release in the fall of 2017), utilizes familiar sounds recorded around the world, and embeds them in compositions for his Trio.
Markus served as the Artistic Director of the Miami Beach Jazz Festival and is the founder of Jazz Academy Miami. He keeps a busy schedule performing and conducting clinics, while working on new compositions and commissioned works.
