폴란드와 한국, 전통 음악과 어반 음악의 결합
바르샤바-서울 브릿지 프로젝트는 폴란드 문화부 등 정부의 지원을 받아 한국과 폴란드 문화의 상호 작용을 이끌어 내기 위한 예술 프로젝트이다. 폴란드와 한국의 재즈, 힙합, 어반 음악, 전통 음악 예술가들이 모여 서로의 문화에서 영감을 얻어 음악을 만드는 기획이다. 이 콘서트는 자라섬국제재즈페스티벌에서 가장 먼저 선보이게 되며, 이후 폴란드와 한국을 연결하는 예술적 다리로서의 역할을 수행할 예정이다.
프로젝트의 예술감독이자 리더는 유명한 폴란드 재즈 피아니스트 겸 작곡가이자 뮤직 프로듀서인 보이텍 코니키에빅이 맡았다. 그는 지금까지 딥 퍼플(Deep Purple)의 이안 페이스(Ian Paice), 아시안 덥 파운데이션(Asian Dub Foundation) 등과 함께 수많은 국제적인 예술 공동 작업을 해왔으며, 폴란드 내에서도 재즈 무브먼트에 선두로 나서는 등 다양한 활동을 해왔다. 또한 폴란드와 한국 문화를 반영한 시각적 콜라주 제작을 위해 현대 기술을 사용하여 다양한 요소를 상황에 맞게 조합할 예정이다. 이 프로젝트는 한국 전통음악의 기대주인 음악그룹 나무와 함께 한다. 음악그룹 나무는 동시대 음악 만들기를 끊임없이 선보이고 있는 크리에이티브 대금 연주자 겸 작곡자인 이아람을 주축으로, 아쟁과 타악의 황민왕, 구음과 타악의 여성룡으로 구성되어 있다. 각자의 영역에서 뛰어난 솔리스트이자 멀티 연주자로 호평을 받으며 활약 중인 이들은 음악그룹 나무를 통해 함께 모여 완성도 높은 연주로 전통음악 기반의 새로운 레퍼토리를 관객들에게 선보이고 있다

WARSAW-SEOUL BRIDGE is an artistic project prepared by Polish NGO Planet Foundation, co-funded by Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Its goal is provoking interaction between Korean and Polish culture in course of premiere contemporary jazz concert - staged at International Jarasum Jazz Festival 2017 and featuring artists from both countries. By joint artistic work inspired by the cultural heritage of both countries, they will create a symbolic audio-visual “bridge” connecting Poland and Korea.
Artistic director and leader of the project is a famous Polish jazz pianist, composer and music producer - Wojciech (Voytek) Konikiewicz. His artistic biography is full of international co-operations and performances outside Poland - and can be seen as an exemplification of general idea of this project. Other artists involved in the project are Marcin "Duże Pe" Matuszewski (one of best Polish hip-hop MC's), Cyprian Baszyński (critically acclaimed young Polish jazz trumpet player), Artur Lipiński & Maciej Matysiak (valued Polish jazz musicians, co-forming Voytek Konikiewicz Trio) and members of valued Korean ethno-jazz band Music Group NaMu, who will enrich the show with their guest performances.
NaMu, Korean traditional music ensemble, made its official debut in 2015. Yet, NaMu collaborated with various artists from 2013 and crossed over many genres with wide range of projects such as dancing, classical music, jazz and so on. NaMu’s leader, Daegeum and Yanggeum player Aram Lee stands on the basis of tradition and incessantly presents work of musical art. Two musicians, Ajaeng & Janggu player Min Wang Hwang and vocalist and percussionist Seong Ryong Yeo makes perfect balance with Aram. All they have in common is each of them is outstanding soloist. Three all-round artists introduce novel repertory with near perfect performances. With NaMu’s originality and creativity, the band receives the most attention of today’s Korean traditional music scene.
The core of WARSAW-SEOUL BRIDGE is based on contextual combination of various elements of musical, lyrical and visual creation - also with the use of modern technology - to create musical-poetic-visual collage reflecting and joining Polish and Korean culture. Artistic contents of the project would be equally based on composition and improvisation.
