인도네시아의 작은 곳에서 시작된 아름다운 월드 뮤직
보이 아키 듀오는 보이 아키, 혹은 보이 아키 트리오라는 이름으로도 잘 알려져 있다. 월드뮤직을 좋아하는 이들이라면 한 번쯤 들어봤을 이름이다. 1996년부터 활동을 시작한 보이 아키 듀오는 노래를 하는 모니카 아키하리와 그녀의 남편이자 제작, 작곡, 연주를 맡고 있는 Niels Brouwer로 구성되어 있다. 모니카 아키하리의 음악적 뿌리는 인도네시아의 말루쿠 제도다. 그는 사어가 되어가는 민족 언어를 여전히 유지하고 있으며 그 지역 민요 역시 계승하고 있다. 이들의 음악이 인도네시아 음악이라고 한 데 묶기 어려운 독특한 정체성을 지니고 있는 이유이다. 보이 아키 듀오는 이렇게 민요의 뿌리를 유지한 채 재즈와 결합하거나 아프리카의 음악과 연결하여 새로운 음악을 선보인다. 월드뮤직 팬이라면 놓칠 수 없는 이국적인 매력이 가득한 무대가 될 예정이다.

Boi Akih has developed a distinctive repertoire, one in which cultural roots-musical traditions from Indonesia, Dutch(European) jazz and improvised music, contemporary music, classical Indian music and traditional African music - form the basis for composition, improvisation and text. The program of the duo reflects the development of their own musical language whereby sound and elements from various traditions take on a new meaning. Dutch newspaper The Volkskrant wrote: “music, in which Akihary’s powerful voice remained emotionally charged even in the sound experiments, just as Brouwer imbued abstract passages with warmth.”
