아버지와 아들이 펼치는 특별한 기타 듀오, 울프 & 에릭 바케니우스
스웨덴을 대표하는 기타리스트 울프 바케니우스는 1980년대부터 활동을 시작해 닐스 헤닝 오스테드 페데르센(NHØP), 라스 다니엘손(Lars Danielsson), 잉거 마리(Inger Marie) 등 유럽 연주자뿐 아니라 팻 메시니(Pat Metheny), 허비 행콕(Herbie Hancock), 잭 디조넷(Jack DeJohnette) 등 미국 연주자들과 교류하며 ‘월드 와이드’한 연륜을 쌓아왔다. 1997년 오스카 피터슨 퀄텟(Oscar Peterson Quartet)에 합류해 주목을 받았으며 피터슨이 사망한 2007년까지 약 11년 간 그의 곁을 지켰다. 이후 2007년 보컬리스트 나윤선과 듀오를 결성해 세계무대에서 함께 해왔다. 지금은 기타 한 대로 솔로부터 밴드 사운드까지 백업하는 최고의 세션 연주자로 인정받고 있다.

을 시작으로 여러 장의 앨범을 발표했다. 키스 자렛(Keith Jarrett) 트리뷰트 앨범 (2005), 에스본 스벤슨 트리오(E.S.T.)의 곡을 연주한 (2008) 등도 인상적인 앨범이다. 2017년에는 미국의 기타 명문 MI를 졸업하고 아버지와 함께 기타리스트로 활동하고 있는 아들 에릭 바케니우스와 함께 듀오 앨범 을 선보였다. 이번 공연에서는 앨범 수록곡을 중심으로 기타리스트 아버지와 아들이 나누는 삶과 음악에 대한 소박한 이야기를 만날 수 있다.

One Father, One Son, Two Guitars
Born in 1958 from Sweden, Ulf Wakenius, a jazz guitarist extraordinaire acclaimed and celebrated all over the world. Between 1997 and 2007 Ulf held what may have been the most prestigious spot in jazz for a guitarist: a chair in the Oscar Peterson Quartet. This was the coronation of a career which included many record-breaking moments. Wakenius guitar duo Guitars Unlimited rocked Scandinavia in the early 80s, culminating in the 1985 Melody Grand Prix, which was seen by 600 million viewers, probably the largest audience a jazz guitar duo ever had. Shortly after that Wakenius started extremely successful and long-lasting collaboration with the legendary bass player Niels-Henning Örsted Pedersen (NHOP), and both of his duo albums with bass icon Ray Brown, topped the US Jazz Charts. The last few years he's been touring the world with the amazing Korean singer Youn Sun Nah.
And his son Eric was born in 1988 and surrounded as a teenager by the rock and pop music of the nineties. After that, he spent a lot of time in Los Angeles, where he picked up many different stylistic directions from that city’s musical melting pot. He is a rising star in the world of guitar with a unique style. Eric also brings vocal with a high personality to the duo.
Their album “Father And Son” is a virtuoso conversation in the art of contemporary jazz guitar. This duo can launch into swing mode, or strut out towards rock, they are capable of being both lyrical and percussively extrovert, they can dream ballads or go at breakneck speed. And whether they are telling tales of exotic lands or contemplating their native Sweden, the pair with their instinct for atmosphere, their sensitivity to acoustics and balance make, soul-stirring, affecting and compelling music, in which the listener can detect the closeness of their connection to each other.
