우리나라에서 흔히 들을 수 없는 트럼본이라는 악기의 매력을 만끽할 수 있는 무대
정중화 퀸텟은 트럼본 연주와 노래를 겸하고 있는 정중화를 주축으로 피아니스트 임미정, 기타리스트 한운기, 베이시스트 최은창, 드러머 김홍기가 함께 하는 밴드이다. 멤버들 모두 실용음악과 교수임과 동시에 재즈와 팝, 가요 등 여러 장르에서 왕성한 음악활동을 펼치고 있으며, 한국재즈씬을 대표하는 중견 연주자들이기도 하다. 이들은 국내의 여러 재즈페스티벌과 방송, 공연 등 15년 이상의 활동 경력들로, 그 어디에서도 볼 수 없는 탄탄하고 무게감 있는 연주를 들려준다.
올해 자라섬 무대에서는 2014년과 2016년에 발매된 두 앨범 <Autumn Rain> 과 <Moon Dance> 의 수록곡과 더불어 대중들에게 익숙한 스탠다드 넘버들, 그리고 트럼본 연주자 정중화의 노래 등 다양한 레퍼토리로 관객들에게 중후하면서도 멜랑콜리한 음악의 세계를 선사할 예정이다.
Feeling the charms of trombone, uncommon musical instrument in Korea
Jung Joong Hwa Quintet is a band gathered around trombonist and vocalist JoongHwa Jung with pianist Mijung Lim, guitarist Woonki Han, bassist Eunchang Choi, and drummer Honggi Kim. All members are professors of Applied Music major, performing actively in various genres such as jazz, pop, and k-pop, and middle standing artists representing Korean jazz scene. They have 15 and more years of careers perform their music at different jazz festivals and broadcasts, showing deep and strong plays. This year in Jarasum, the team is planning to present heavy and melancholy music world from two released albums from 2014 and 2016 <Autumn Rain> and <Moon Dance> as well as standard number familiar to the audience, and vocal of trombone player Joonghwa Jung.
