‘김철수&오진원 with 서주영’은 피아니스트 김철수와 기타리스트 오진원의 피아노&기타 프리-아방가르드 재즈 듀오에 드러머 서주영이 가세한 팀이다.
재즈의 전통적 가치를 중시하면서도 힙합, 소울의 영향이 짙게 녹아 있는 피아니스트 김철수와 강한 즉흥성과 인상주의적 이미지를 강조한 아방가르드 계열의 사운드를 선보이는 연주자 오진원, 그리고 이 두 개의 상반된 개성을 가진 두 연주자의 자유로운 대화에 더하여진 드러머 서주영의 회화적이면서도 날카롭게 음악의 전개를 이끌어 나가는 드러밍은 마치 연극의 전체 스토리를 잡아주는 연출의 역할을 하는 것과 같이 각자의 개성이 묻히지 않으면서도 음악의 방향성을 잃지 않게 하고 있다. 김철수&오진원은 올 해 초 앨범 <我[a:]>를 발매하고 폼텍웍스홀 쇼케이스, 일본 요코하마 Bon Odori Jazz festival 초청 연주, EBS SPACE 공감등 다양한 무대에서 선보인 바 있고 지난 6월, 드러머 서주영이 새로운 멤버로 영입되어 새로이 녹음한 두 번째 앨범 <NOMS>로 활동중이다. 올해 자라섬에서는 드러머 서주영까지 합류한 구성으로, 위에 소개된 두 앨범의 곡들을 중심으로 연주를 들려줄 예정이다.
‘Chulsoo Kim&Jinwon O with Juyoung Seo’ is with a pre-avant-garde jazz duo pianist Chulsoo Kim and pianist/guitarist Jinwon O joined by drummer Juyoung Seo.
Jazz traditionalist pianist with soul and hip-hop vibe Chulsoo Kim, powerful improviser with avant-garde sound Jinwon O, and drumming that makes the harmonious sound of these two different sounds, drummer Juyoung Seo performs like directing the storyline of their music, presenting each of their characteristics. Chulsoo Kim and Jinwon O released an album <我[a:]> early this year, performed at various stages such as Formtech Works Hall Showcase, Bon Odori Jazz Festival in Yokohama, Japan, and EBS Space. Last June, new member Juyoung Seo joined and newly recorded second album <NOMS> and currently performing with the album. This year in Jarasum, they will perform the two albums with newly joined member drummer Juyoung Seo.
