그녀가 돌아왔다, 재즈 피아니스트 배장은
2000년대 들어 활발한 연주활동을 펼치며 진취적인 음악의 선두 주자로 활동했던 재즈 피아니스트 배장은이 2017년, 그녀의 새 밴드와 함께 돌아왔다. 밴드의 이름은 배장은 리버레이션 아말가메이션 밴드(이하 JB LAB). 원래 'Liberation Amalgamation'은 피아니스트/키보디스트 배장은이 2003년에서 2005년 까지 미국에서 리드하던 밴드였다. 당시에 끊임없는 음악에의 열정과 음악안에서의 하나됨을 꿈꾸는 젊은 음악가들이 만든 진취적인 프로젝트였으며, 그녀의 첫 데뷔 앨범인 <The End and Everything After>(2006년작) 에 수록된 첫 곡의 제목이기도 했다. 그녀는 첫 데뷔 앨범 이후, 현재까지 총 6개의 리더작을 발표하며 북미와 아시아권 재즈 페스티벌과 클럽 등에 초청받으며 활발한 활동을 펼쳤으며, 이제는 국내 재즈씬의 대표적인 중견 연주자로서 자리 잡았다. 2016년 후반기부터는 한국에서 새로운 멤버들과 JB LAB을 새롭게 다시 시작하였으며, 재즈 클럽 등지에서 활발한 연주활동을 펼치고 있다. 새로 구성된 JB LAB에서는 팀의 리더인 배장은이 작곡과 프로듀싱을 담당하며, 팀의 중요한 구심점으로 기타리스트 이수진과 베이시스트 신동하가 함께 한다. 또, 여기에 장르를 넘나들며 팀의 색채를 담당하는 드러머 신동진이 가세하면서 새로운 JB LAB만의 음악색채를 더욱 선명하게 만들어낸다. 구속되지 않은 자유로운 표현으로 진정한 자유와 해방, 그리고 그 안에 있는 단합의 힘을 선보일 JB LAB의 음악을 올해 자라섬에서 만나보자.
Jazz pianist JB, she’s back
Actively performed in the 2000s as a leader of progressive music, jazz pianist JB is back in 2017 with her new band. The name of the band is Jangeun Bae Liberation Amalgamation Band(JB LAB). Originally ‘Liberation Amalgamation’ was the band that pianist/keyboardist JB was leading from 2003 to 2005. The team was a progressive project that young musicians who have a passion of music as one, also was the title of her first song of her album <The End and Everything After(2006)>. After her first debut album, she released total 6 leading albums, being invited and performing actively at the North American and Asian jazz festivals and clubs. She has been settled as a mid-standing artist in Korea. Since late 2016, she restarted JB LAB with new members, performing actively at jazz clubs and more. In the newly formed JB LAB, the team leader JB is in charge of composing and producing, joined by important team players guitarist Soojin Lee and bassist Dongha Shin. Also, various genres and colors of the team added by Dongjn Shin, new JB LAB’s color more bright. True freedom with unleashed and free style expression and power of unification will be shown by JB LAB, this year in Jarasum.
