티네케 포스트마(Tineke Postma)는 알토/소프라노 색소폰 연주자로, 현재 네덜란드를 대표하는 재즈 아티스트로 인정받고 있다. 열한 살 때부터 색소폰을 배우기 시작한 Tineke Postma는 암스테르담 음대에서 색소폰으로 석사를 마친 후 곧바로 미국 뉴욕의 맨하탄 음대에서 학업을 이어가면서 웨인 쇼터(Wayne Shorter), 테리 린 캐링턴(Terri Lyne Carrington), 그렉 오스비(Greg Osby), 에스페란자 스팔딩(Esperanza Spalding) 등 뉴욕을 거점으로 활동하고 있는 세계적인 재즈 아티스트들과 인연을 맺기 시작했고, 이후 그래미상을 수상한 테리 린 캐링턴의 앨범 [The Mosaic Project]와 다이앤 리브스(Dianne Reeves)의 앨범 [Beautiful]에도 참여했다.
2003년에 데뷔 앨범을 발표한 Tineke Postma는 2005년에 발표한 두 번째 앨범 [For the Rhythm]으로 미국 재즈 차트 20위 안에 3주간 머무르면서 좋은 반응을 얻었고, 계속해서 꾸준히 앨범을 발표하여 2014년에는 [Sonic Halo]를 통해 그의 멘토였던 그렉 오스비와 함께 나란히 앨범의 리더로 이름을 올렸다. 영국의 가디언지로부터 ‘포스트밥(Post-Bop)의 천재’라는 평가를 받기도 했던 Tineke Postma는, 네덜란드 재즈계에 공헌한 인물에게 시상하는 보이 에드거 상(Boy Edgar Prijs)의 2015년 수상자로 선정됐다.
올해 다운비트(DownBeat) 매거진으로부터 분야별로 가장 주목받는 연주자를 선정하는 라이징 스타(Rising Star)의 소프라노 연주자로 최고 점수를 받은 Tineke Postma는, 최근 Tineke Postma Group ‘FREYA’라는 새로운 프로젝트로 활동을 시작했다. 주위를 압도하는 솔로보다는 함께 무대에 오른 연주자들과 긴밀히 소통할 수 있는 연주를 지향한다는 그의 말처럼, 이번 자라섬에서도 새로운 앙상블과 함께 균형잡힌 완벽한 하모니로 무대 전체를 빛내줄 것이다.
Dutch saxophonist, composer and Grammy winner Tineke Postma tours internationally as a leader and featured guest. She released six albums as a leader which have been received with great critical acclaim. Tineke’s upcoming album FREYA will be released in 2020. At the Jasarum Festival the Tineke Postma Group will perform music from this upcoming album FREYA. It’s a tribute to strong female (mythical) figures who present creativity and motherhood and a tribute to Tineke’s heritage from Frysland, a beautiful rural region in the north of the Netherlands.
Tineke is part of two Grammy awarded albums by Terri Lyne Carrington [The Mosaic Project] and Dianne Reeves [Beautiful]. The Downbeat Polls listed Tineke as Rising Star in the soprano and alto saxophone categories. Tineke worked with prominent artists and groups such as Kenny Barron, Terri Lyne Carrington, Esperanza Spalding, Dianne Reeves, Geri Allen, the Metropole Orchestra and the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw. In 2012 Tineke performed at the first Global concert of International Jazz Day at the Assembly Hall of the United Nations in New York with Wayne Shorter. In December 2018 she performed with Herbie Hancock, Esperanza Spalding and the Wayne Shorter Quartet for Wayne Shorter who received a Kennedy Honors Award in Washington. Tineke Postma appeared on International Jazz Day 2019.
