Trio가 들려주는 가장 화려한 사운드 ‘TrioWorks’
한국의 대표적인 재즈드러머 오종대는 다양한 편성의 밴드들을 이끌며 새로운 시도를 계속해 왔다. 이번 자라섬 재즈 페스티발 무대에 선보이는 ‘TrioWorks’는 국내에서는 처음으로 선보이는 Organ Trio로, 찰리정(guitar), 성기문(Hammond Organ)과 함께 2018년 봄에 결성한 팀이다. 베이스 역할을 같이하는 Hammond Organ과 Guitar, Drums의 구성이며, 무엇보다 오랜 시간 국내 재즈씬에서 활동하며 내공을 쌓아온 중견 연주자들의 견고한 연주와 다이내믹한 솔로를 만나볼 수 있는 좀처럼 만나보기 힘든 팀이기도 하다.
TrioWork의 음악은 깊은 블루스 정서를 내포하고 있는 찰리정의 기타 사운드와 자작곡, 하몬드 오르가니스트이면서 재즈피아니스트인 성기문의 흑인영가의 soul과 spirit이 담긴 연주, 그리고 여기에 드러머 오종대의 풍부한 음악적 경험이 더해지면서 트리오가 들려주는 가장 화려하고 깊은 사운드를 들려준다.
2019년 가을에는 이런 음악을 모두 담은 첫 앨범 발매를 앞두고 있다. 이 음반은 모두 자작곡으로 구성되어 있으며, 연주자들의 오랜 경험에서 우러나오는 소울 깊은 연주와 에너지 뿐 아니라 라이브를 연주를 그대로 담아 생생한 음악적 생동감도 함께 느낄 수 있다.
2018년 결성 이후 TrioWork는 일본 구마모토재즈페스티벌 및 대구국제재즈페스티벌, 서울숲재즈페스티벌, 국내외 재즈 클럽 등 다양한 무대에서 왕성한 활동을 펼치고 있다.
깊은 음악적 내공은 한순간에 쌓이는 것이 아니다. 오랜 시간 음악을 해온 이들만이 펼쳐낼 수 있는 음악과 에너지가 있다. 올해 자라섬재즈에서는 바로 이런 음악과 에너지를 지닌, 오랜 시간 국내 재즈씬에서 무대를 묵묵히 지켜온, 이 세 중견 연주자들의 음악적 열정과 에너지를 직접 만나볼 수 있는 귀한 시간이 될 것이다.
The most brilliant sound of Trio ‘TrioWorks’
Korea's representative jazz drummer, Oh Jong Dae, has led new bands with various combination. 'TrioWorks', which will be shown at the Jarasum Jazz Festival stage, is the first organ trio in Korea, and was formed in the spring of 2018 with Charlie Jung(guitar) and Sung Ki Moon(Hammond organ). The team is composed of Hammond organ that plays the role of bass, guitar, and drums. Above all, it is a rare team to meet the solid performances and dynamic solos of backbone players who have been working in the domestic jazz scene for a long time.
TrioWork's music includes Charlie's guitar sounds and compositions, which contain deep blues emotions, performances containing the soul and spirit of hammond organist and jazz pianist Sung Kimoon’s black spirit, and the rich musical experience of drummer Oh Jong Dae. The most colorful and deep sound.
In the fall of 2019, the first album containing all of this music is ready for release. All of these albums are self-composed, and you can feel the lively musical dynamics of live performances as well as the soulful performance and energy from the long experiences of the performers.
Since its formation in 2018, TrioWork has been active in various stages including the Kumamoto Jazz Festival in Japan, the Daegu International Jazz Festival, the Seoul Forest Jazz Festival, and the domestic and international jazz clubs.
Deep musical internals do not accumulate in a moment. There is music and energy that only those who have been doing music for a long time can unfold. In this year's Jarasum Jazz, it will be a precious time to meet the musical passion and energy of these three mainstay performers who have kept this stage in the domestic jazz scene with such music and energy.
