작사, 작곡과 드럼을 맡은 박근혁을 중심으로 2008년에 결성된 박근쌀롱은 2011년 첫 번째 정규 음반 <습관의 발견(repeat, pause, play)>을 발표했다. 이 음반은 2012년 한국대중음악상 시상식에서 재즈&크로스오버 '최우수 재즈 음반' 으로 선정되었다. 그 후 박근쌀롱은 4년 만에 2015년 <현재의 발견>이라는 두 번째 정규 음반을 내놓았고, 다시 한 번 2016년 한국대중음악상 ‘최우수 재즈 음반’ 부문의 후보로 노미네이트 되었다. 이후 EBS 스페이스공감 , 네이버 온스테이지, 라이브클럽데이 등에 초청되는 등 활발한 활동을 펼치고 있다. 한국대중음악상 선정위원이면서 네이버 온스테이지 기획위원이기도 한 서정민갑은 박근쌀롱의 음악을 두고 ‘박근쌀롱의 음악은 어렵지 않다. 하지만 재즈의 본질적인 방법론과 아름다움을 전혀 훼손시키지 않고, 재즈적으로 설득해낸다. 재즈가 담지하고 있는 보편성과 특수성을 함께 아우르는 굳건함과 부드러움은 그야말로 재즈 본연의 매력이 무엇인지를 적시듯 증명한다’라고 표현하기도 했다.

True echo by intuition and insight

Centering Geun Hyuk Bahk, writing and composing music and playing drums, organized in 2008, Bgsalon released the first regular album <Finding Habits (repeat, pause, play)t> in 2011. The album was honored as ‘Best Jazz Album’ in Jazz & Crossover part at Korean Music Awards in 2012. After 4 years, in 2015, Bgsalon released the second regular album <Finding the Present>, once again nominated as a candidate of ‘Best Jazz Album’ in 2016 at Korean Music Awards. Since then, the team has been actively performing invited to EBS Space, Naver Onstage, Live Club Day, and more.

One of the award committees of Korean Music Awards as well as director of Naver Onstage MinGaph SeoJeong described ‘Bgsalon’s music is not difficult. But, the original methodology and beauty of jazz are never tinted, only convincing in jazz way. This team has the capacity to combine the solidity and softness as presenting commonality and uniqueness of jazz, proving what the charm of jazz like being submerged.’
