독일의 베를린을 중심으로 활동하고 있는 포크-재즈 밴드 올라 마이 디어는, 이름만큼이나 친근하고 경쾌한 음악을 들려준다. 올라 마이 디어는 로라 윙클러의 상큼한 보컬을 중심으로 트럼펫, 만돌린, 콘트라베이스가 더해진 흔치 않은 편성의 어쿠스틱 재즈 밴드 구성을 갖추었다. 음악 속에 보통 동유럽 지역에서 결혼식과 같은 축제 마당의 흥을 돋우는 클레즈머라는 전통음악을 녹여내어 공연 때마다 관객들에게 즐거움을 선사한다. 지난해 발표한 앨범 <Eat, drink and be merry>는 제목 그대로 좋은 사람들과 함께 정성 들여 준비한 음식을 함께 나누며 즐거운 시간을 보낸다는 컨셉으로 지루할 틈 없이 어깨를 들썩거리게 만드는 빠른 비트와 익살스런 멜로디의 트럼펫, 만돌린 연주, 그리고 마치 뮤지컬처럼 흥겨운 감성의 노래가 담겨있다. 스톱모션 기법을 사용한 아기자기한 느낌의 뮤직비디오 ‘Disappear Me’를 감상해보면 이들의 무대를 미리 짐작해볼 수 있을 것이다.

When friends invite you to dinner you don’t turn up empty-handed. And when Holler my Dear asks you round for food, drinks and merriment, it is best not to come on a full stomach. With the new album <Eat, drink and be merry>(2015), the versatile folk-band from Berlin is throwing a party and it’s a real knees-up. Along with tasty favorites and some bitter-sweet tones, there’s plenty of hot and hearty fare on offer.

Holler my Dear is a young band from Berlin that enchants with hearty Folk/Jazz/Acoustic Pop songs. Laura Winkler the singer and bandleader writes lovingly arranged songs full of details: sometimes gentle and dreamy, sometimes powerful and danceable like the lively sister of Singer-Songwriter. This sounds a little bit like Motown-Tango or Western-Klezmer. And it smells a little bit like a circus. Laura looks for melancholy in her dark-green melodies, but she sprinkles enough winks in her stories while she's singing about a troll or lets her nose or the moon disappear. Her five Austro-Russian-English Berlin town musicians join in with virtuosity and playfulness and together they play high energetic devoted concerts.
