한국전통음악과 재즈의 화학적 결합을 꿈꾸다.

세움(SE:UM)은 한국전통음악 특유의 숨(호흡)을 기반으로 한 음악적 실험과 연구를 중심으로 결성된 팀으로, 이 숨에서 음악적인 영감을 얻으며 창작활동을 진행하고 있다. 이 팀은 색소폰, 콘트라베이스, 트럼펫, 12현 가야금, 전통 타악까지 총 5명의 연주자들로 구성되어 있으며, 독특한 구성과 질감으로 구성된 음악들은 한국 전통 장단을 기반으로 한국 음악과 재즈의 화학적 결합을 목표로 하고 있다. 데뷔 앨범 <SE:UM>은 2015년 한국대중음악상 2개 부문(최우수 연주&최우수 크로스오버)후보로 이름을 올리며 작품성과 음악성을 인정받았으며, 이후 ‘영국 에든버러 프린지 페스티벌’ 참가 현지 언론 평점 만점 획득, 2015 전주 세계소리축제 소리프론티어 소리축제상 수상, 국립국악원 풍류사랑방 초청공연, 2015 서울아트마켓 PAMS Choice 선정, 울산월드뮤직페스티벌 쇼케이스 선정 등 활발한 활동을 이어나가고 있다. 최근에는 <Korean Breath>라는 앨범을 발매하였으며, 지속적인 작품 활동과 공연 활동을 통하여 이질적이지 않으며 자연스러운 음악적 결합을 통한 시너지를 극대화하기 위해 다양한 노력을 이어오고 있다. 현재는 인천의 부평아트센터의 상주단체로 입주해 있다.

Dreaming of chemical combination of Korean traditional music and jazz.

SE:UM is a team mainly gathered for musical experiments and study based on breath from Korean traditional music as well as creating music inspired by it. The team is consisting of 5 musicians playing saxophone, contrabass, trumpet, 12 string gayageum, and Korean traditional percussion, aiming for chemical combination of Korean traditional music and jazz based on Korean traditional rhythm created with unique structure and feeling. Their debut album <SE:UM> was nominated as candidate of 2 sections of Korean Pop Music Award in 2015 (Most Excellent Performance & Most Excellent Crossover), at perfect score by the local press review at ‘England Edinburgh Festival Fringe,’ awarded Sound Frontier Sound Festival at Jeonju International Sound Festival in 2015, invited to perform at National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts, awarded as PAMS Choice at Seoul Art Market, selected as Showcase of Ulsan World Music Festival. Recently they released an album <Korean Breath>, attempting to maximize the synergy through natural but extraneous combination of music by continuing work and performances. The team is currently residing musicians at Incheon Bupyeong Art Center.
