자라섬재즈페스티벌의 15주년을 기념하며 탄생한 <자라섬비욘드>,
자라섬재즈만의 스페셜한 기획 프로그램

문화체육관광부 지정, 2018 대한민국 대표축제로 선정된 자라섬재즈페스티벌(이하 자라섬재즈)이 올해 15주년을 맞이하였습니다. 자라섬재즈는 아시아 최고의 음악 페스티벌로 손꼽히며, 국내에서는 성공적인 야외 음악 페스티벌의 표본으로 자리 잡았습니다. 또, 매년 세계 최정상의 아티스트에서부터 끊임없이 새로운 시도로 크리에이티브 한 음악 세계를 펼쳐나가는 아티스트 등을 함께 소개하며 깊이 있고 폭넓은 프로그램으로 많은 사랑을 받고 있습니다.

올해부터는 자라섬재즈에서만 만날 수 있는 <자라섬비욘드>가 새롭게 탄생합니다. 자라섬 비욘드는 자라섬재즈의 15주년을 기념함과 동시에 자라섬재즈만의 독자적인 기획 프로그램으로, 앞으로도 다른 곳에서는 볼 수 없는 자라섬재즈만의 콘텐츠로 채워나갈 예정입니다.

올해는 그 첫 시작으로, 한국대중음악사에서 절대적인 존재로 불리는 가왕 조용필의 데뷔 50주년을 기념하기 위해 그의 유명 곡들을 재즈로 편곡하여 재탄생시킨 <JAZZ MEETS 조용필>을 선보입니다. 대표적인 국내 재즈 앙상블의 두 리더인 오재철, 이지연이 공동 디렉터 및 편곡자로 함께 참여하였으며, 본 프로그램만을 위해 구성된 ‘자라섬재즈 라지 앙상블’이 연주에 함께 합니다. 두 디렉터의 뚜렷한 음악적 색채가 담긴 멋진 편곡으로 다채로운 음악적 질감과 색채를 느낄 수 있는 무대가 될 것입니다.

Commemoration of the 15th Anniversary of Jarasum Jazz Festival <Jarasum Beyond> Specially Programed by Jarasum Jazz

Designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, 2018 Korea's National Festival, Jarasum Jazz Festival celebrated its 15th anniversary this year. Jarasum Jazz is considered one of the best music festivals in Asia and has become a model for successful outdoor music festivals in Korea. In addition, the festival is deeply loved by audience with a wide range of programs, introducing artists from the world's top artists every year and artists who are constantly launching new creative music worlds.

From this year, <Jarasum Beyond>, which can only be encountered in Jarasum Jazz, is newly born. Jarasum Beyond celebrates the 15th anniversary of Jarasum Jazz, and at the same time, it will be filled with Jarasum Jazz's unique contents, which will not be seen anywhere else.

This year, as start, <Jazz Meets Cho Yong Pil> will be presented. The famous songs of Cho Yong Pil, a.k.a. King of Korean Pop Music, will be rearranged as jazz to celebrate his 50th anniversary. Two leading jazz ensemble leaders, Oh Jae Chul and Lee Ji Yeon have joined together as co-directors and arrangers. 'Jarasum Jazz Large Ensemble' will be composed only for this program. It will be a stage where you can feel the colorful musical texture and colors with the wonderful arrangements of the two directors with distinctive musical colors.
